automatic update crashes halfway

wen i do the updat firefox under the help menu, it goes and download but hangs during that proces; i have to hard cancel firefox and the problem stays unresolved.

seems that update button is meant for exe ie windows platform.
for updating you need to go to mozilla website and this is the link
http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/products/download.html?product=firefox-3.6.2&os=linux&lang=en-US
you should know how to unpack and install ....read the readme file and follow instructions.
