Had you made ask.com as your default homepage in Firefox? If that's the situation, you can change it back by clicking on Edit->Preferences-> and on the Main tab, change the values of your homepage to point at google.

Ok, there is a search field in the GUI top right, where when you click on the small down arrow a list of all your search engines should appear.
Does it include google?
If yes choose google and every search string in the inbox will search google.
In addition if you highlight any word on a page, right click context menu will suggest to search google.

## Note, if you run Lucid already, Firefox 3.6 incl. Yahoo as default search engine, but as described it can be switched easily.
