Problems uploading photos from camera (xubuntu 9.10)

Asked by Danny T

with the previous version of xubuntu I simply plugged in my daughter's camera and they were there in jpeg form. Since upgrading to 9.10 the photo files appear as apparent gibberish with padlocks on the icon. Example:

file:///media/DSC_FATDISK/DCIM/%E2%95%9A%E2%95%AC%0F%5C%1C7Z%C3%B2.%E2%8C%A0%13+/%E2%96%93%E2%94%82%E2%94%A4%E2%95%A1%E2%95%A2%E2%95%96%E2%95%95%E2%95%A3.%E2%95%91%E2%94%AC%E2%94%9C

Any tips to solve this?
