11/9/2009 Since updates this a.m. Firefox plug ins not working

Using Ubuntu 9.10 (have been since before Alpha). Using Latest version of Firefox. AMD 64 bit.
Late last night, my time, Firefox working well. This morning, with first batch of updates (I know they may come in batches) Firefox's plug-ins started behaving badly, or not working at all. (Pardon, but I call all extensions 'plug-ins)
Stealther
AdBlock Plus
eQuake
Dilbert

were ones I noted (plus one I use but not sure of the name right now. It puts a little icon in upper right hand corner that allows restart, update, plug-ins and one or two other checks)

They come and go. Sometimes appearing to work, other times not there.

Also, only one 'Firefox' window appears. If I try to 'open in new window. Firefox will not display window. If I close the open window... Firefox has to be killed before I can re-open. This also occurs on trying to restart Firefox after trying to restart from 'add-ons' window.

I waited and updated when the updates for Firefox appeared in the Synaptic Manager. Problem persists and may have gotten worse.

To test what is the issue you may close Firefox and rename the (hidden) folder ~/.mozilla.
mv .mozilla .mozilla.old

Restarting Firefox will create a new folder .mozilla, without extentions and bookmarks, but they're still in the renamed folder to copy back.
Now you can start to successive copy back your extensions to see which one maybe is causing the issue.
