I'm using firefox 3.7 and Opera. Both the dd-wrt links you gave are without issue here.

If you rename ~/.mozilla then relaunch your browser, does it work ok then?

I renamed .mozilla and relaunched, but I observe the same.

Attention : I can open
ftp://ftp.sunet.se/

Those sites are also correctely open with previous firefox in other distributions - i believe it is a problem existing with ubuntu.

I cannot get to certain webpages beause of particular characters in front of the first part of text in the line of the url, like for example http://-stimpy.deviantart.com. For some reason I get a "server not found" message instead of the page loading up.

no it doesn't but if you read the name on the site it says "-stimpy"

Can you help with this problem?
