firefox-3.5 package

Final version released, any idea on the Jaunty timeframe?

The 3.5 final version has now been released. Any clue on when we may see it released to Ubuntu, in particular a back port to Jaunty? Also are there plans to make the meta package install 3.5 instead of 3.0?

I'm guessing you mean 3.5 of Firefox. Your question never states the app you are discussing and it is not safe to assume in the multi app - multi - version environment of open source software

fyi the package base-passwd is at version 3.5

please be clear in questions

The update will be in the repos when it is compiled and validated as ok for ubuntu.

I managed to get the answer. Follow the instructions on this page: http://webupd8.blogspot.com/2009/06/firefox-35-rc-1-ubuntu-repository-deb.html and you should be all set to go.

3.5 will be the default Firefox in karmic, as mentioned in this blueprint:
https://blueprints.edge.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+spec/desktop-karmic-firefox-3.5
As you can see, there are still a lot of things to do for this to happen.

3.5 final just entered Karmic: https://edge.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/firefox-3.5

As for Jaunty, we'll update the package but it will not replace 3.0 as default firefox.
Yet, it's possible to make it your preferred browser using the Gnome UI.

did you attached the tag "firefox-3.0" to your question? I suppose it's not you so when actionparsnip saw your question for the first time he had no idea of what three and a half version you are talking about.

I've given up looking at that. I've seen people log bootup issues and the related package was pidgin. My bad. Sorry.
