When is GDM coming back?

Asked by gizahgin

At least give people an option if they want the original gdm, this is one of the biggest let downs of the new Ubuntu.

This is a questions forum. I suggest you put te idea to

http://brainstorm.ubuntu.com

Considering its on the screen for all of 5 seconds while you logon, its hardly a massive issue, right?

Yes it is a 'massive issue'. If I wanted a proprietary start up screen, I'd use Windows. If I wanted to listen to a proprietary start up tune, I'd use Windows. If I wanted to have no control over the customization of the O.S., I'd use Windows.

its not proprietary, its open source.

GDM is customisable via epidermis in Karmic, Lucid has this sorted as far as I know. I'd hit up that, see how you go.

Epidermis is a great help, thank you. It still would be nice to have gdm back. I think it's time for me to start looking around for a new distro.

Ubuntu isn't always the answer ;)
