can't open normal URL: asked "what should firefox do with this file?"

Asked by dbclinton

Since last night, there is one URL that Firefox won't open (I know it's only one, but it happens to be one that I manage). Instead, I am told:

==========================
you have chosen to open
<blank line>
which is a: phtml file
from:
what should firefox do with this file?
==========================

I had been involved in downloading files via the address bar, for whatever that's worth.
Searching user help databases, I have seen other people experienced a very similar problem using Apache - but Apache isn't installed on my system.
Any ideas?
Thanks so much,
David

Since I posted this, a visitor to the site has reported having the same problem...so I suspect it's got something to do with the server. I'll check that angle first and report back here one way or the other.
Thanks

My web hosting company informed me (a bit belatedly) that

"PHP was switched to FastCGI mode recently on the server"

and that I had to remove a line from the .htaccess file.

So it had nothing to do with Firefox after all.
Thanks for the help,
David
