google.com missing buttons

Asked by itisnownow

Binary package hint: firefox-3.0

on google.com the Google search button and I'm feeling lucky button are missing. when i go to google.com the only thing that shows up is the colored google logo and a text box. no other links at all, untill i mouse over the page. then all the links like video, maps, news, etc populate as well as the igoogle, search settings..., and advanced search, language tools, privacy, and so on. the Google search button and I'm feeling lucky button never show up. hitting enter after typing in the text box works as normal.
also, when using the arrow keys on laptop to scroll down the page, it shows a cursor and scolls like it is a word or text document instead of normal

Thank you for reporting this to Ubuntu. Sometimes Firefox profiles can become corrupt and/or extensions can conflict. Could you please try this with a new profile and see if the problem still exists? You do not need to delete your old profile to test. If this helps, you might want to try to disable all your extensions and re-enable them one by one until you find the problematic one.

You can start the profile manager with the following command:
firefox -ProfileManager

I opened the firefox profile manager and there were no profiles listed. i created a new one and opened firefox from the button inside the profile manager and was able to get to google with everything back to normal. but then it never used the new profile. when opening firefox it always goes to the built in profile, not the one i created. also i could not get into the root folder to find and delete the built in profile. i am stuck. what should i do now? thanks for your help.

Just wanted to let you guys know, I'm using Vista Home Premium and IE8 and I have the exact same problem. So I wouldn't blame this on Ubuntu.

You can select the profile as default in the profile manager.
