have you tried 3.5?

Do you have any weird firefox plugins getting in the way?

Are you running desktop effects? (Wobbly windows, cube desktop and all that muck)

Ubuntu recommend that I don't change from what is packaged bar updates.

Only "wierd" plugin is downloadhelper v4.6.4 and usual stuff like acrobat etc

No desktop effects other than the standard setting.

Strange, I am typing into this web browser now, answering your questions yet I cannot do that in my web browser to answer my e-mails, except for the subject line and address bar - not the message body

Very strange indeed. Have you tried clearing out your cache and cookies (press CTRL+SHIFT+DEL)

Then restart your browser

May help

No. I'm afraid this doesn't help either. Like I said, here I am typing this in here but cannot do it for my e-mails. Perhaps there is something wrong with the online e-mail?

Possibly, what service is it?

have tried:

sudo apt-get install firefox-3.5

then run that instead of 3.0

No, haven't tried v3.5. There are warnings not to use that other than what is already packaged. Perhaps I should just try. Is there any way to uninstall v3.5 and revert back to v3.0.14 should it not work properly?

Aha! Something I have discovered is that I can type into my webmail browser provided the setting is in Plain text editor and not HTML editor. Possibly something wrong with the code in their interface?

There isn't a problem if I use the service with Firefox and Windozzzze.

Sure, 3.5 is a separate app in Jaunty so simply uninstall it. While you are testing you will have both browser available to you so ensure you are running 3.5 before you start doing stuff.

It could possibly be a badly coded page as you say.
