How can I permanently delete my history?

Asked by maisi226

I am trying to figure out how to permanently delete my history so other people cannot go on my computer and view my history. Is there anyway to permanently delete or keep history private from other people?

Hello maisi226,

In the firefox menu bar select Tool -> Delete private Data. Here you can choose what should be deleted including the browser history. This should delete it permanently.

If you want more privacy on your computer, you might want to consider seperate accounts for other users, which isn't always possible, of course.

I hope my answer solves your problem.

Yes, go up to the top taskbar and click on

System - Adminstration - Users&Groups

Now set a new user up for each of the main people that use the machine and then setup a guest account or two for other people. Make sure that the main users get the same kind of rights & privileges that the existing account has got. Actually i would probably just set-up a new account for yourself and let the other users worry about these things separately.

In firefox go up to the menu

Edit - Preferences - Privacy - Private data

and check a few of those settings. Also go up to the url bar where you can type in http addresses and type in

about:config

Promise to be careful of dragons and then type this into the "filter" bar

maxrichresults

and set this to 0 - it's usually set at 12. This should prevent all your addresses appearing when people start typing an address into the url bar. Once you've changed this setting then you will need to close that tab to help keep the dragons safe.

Good luck and regards from
Tom :)
