problem with Firefox 3.0.13

Asked by kittenlover

On version 9.04, Firefox 3.0.13 keeps hanging up. When I go to system monitor it says the Firefox is uninterruptible with the waiting channel says - sync page. I've let it go for around 10-15 minutes and finally get inpatient and kill firefox. What is going on with it? You can't do anything else while it's hung up.

It doesn't matter what page I'm viewing. It happens on all different pages.

The pages do seem to load a little faster but I will have to see if any pages hang up in the next few days. I will reopen this question if it still does hang. Thanks.

I'd like to reopen this question. I am now finding that Firefox is hanging up more and more when I'm on my yahoo mail. Is there any way to fix this? Thanks!

Since this was marked solved, it would have been better to simply post a new question rather than attempting to reopen this one, but thats all spilt milk now :)

In many cases unresponsive web browsing is a DNS issue. If this happens sporadically as you are suggesting, I'd look at moving the DNS settings to OpenDNS.

In many cases however this would involve network configuration changes and for most folks that would be done in their home router/gateway device. You should perhaps contact your ISP for advise on this issue, or the manufacturer of the network product that handles DNS for you. Or if you are familiar with this go ahead and try changing the DNS entries to some other DNS and see if that improves.

It's also possible that plugins in Firefox are causing issues for you, so to troubleshoot disable all plugins and try re-enabling them one by one. I normally wlll start with the latest plugins I've installed and then work backwards.

It's also possible that Yahoo Mail is having issues from time to time, asking Yahoo support would be the best avenue to find out if there is any issues related to their service.

According to the article that solved your issue before it was related to a SWF plugin. If you are AD-Enabled on Yahoo, its entirely possible the delays are the result of slow/unresponsive AD servers and not directly anything else. Or just this plugin's inability to do said.

Good luck,
