Thank you for taking the time to report this issue and helping to make Ubuntu better. Examining the information you have given us, this does not appear to be a bug report so we are closing it and converting it to a question in the support tracker. We appreciate the difficulties you are facing, but it would make more sense to raise problems you are having in the support tracker at https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu if you are uncertain if they are bugs. For help on reporting bugs, see https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs.

The "Check for updates" menu option has been purposefully made unavailable, because Ubuntu is managing the version you have installed. When a new version of Firefox 3.0 is released, you will receive it through the update manager. You currently have the latest version of Firefox 3.0 installed (3.0.13). If you'd like to upgrade to Firefox 3.5.2, take a look at the following page:

https://help.ubuntu.com/community/FirefoxNewVersion

Follow the instructions for your Ubuntu version (Jaunty).

Clicking on that is not the right way to update your Firefox. This is NOT a bug.

To update firefox, open a terminal and type this...

sudo apt-get install firefox-3.5

please close this as Rob is correct. it is because we change mozilla products for our own use and upgrading using mozilla will break things so we are unable to support it.

Can you help with this problem?
