Apple Quicktime not playing in FireFox

Asked by natethagreat

I want to play a vid off of apples website using firefox but it will not play. Just says waiting for video. I am using the Quicktime plugin 7.2.0 (in firefox) but nothing is happening. Tried changing to movie player (default) but still got nothing. Any help would be great.... Thanks.

Hmmm... I'm not having any trouble. Do you have the "ubuntu-restricted-extras" package installed?

I have also experienced quicktime not working in firefox in the last couple of days under ubuntu. To my surprise, it also did not work under osx. I am guessing the problem is with firefox 3.0.13 and nothing can be done on the ubuntu side.
(I was able to open quicktime files with safari on osx.)

Thanks Burak, guess that I will have to wait and see if it fixes itself.....

Are you trying to access files on apple.com also? Here is a report on the issue:
http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=592665

There is a patch on the same page. I guess you would need to download source code of gstreamer and compile to apply the patch. I won't bother.
