having problems with zynga texas hold em

Asked by tim.603

i play texas hold em through face book and myspace on a site called zynga hold em and ever since i swithsed from windows I cannot see the tables or my friends that are playing. I can still play but cannot pick my table or join my friends that are playing. when I first went to myspace after rebooting with ubuntu it said the site requires an additional plug in and I think I may have chosen the wrong one and cannot figure out how to change it or load the proper one. thank you for any help you can offer..

Is Ubuntu running on a PPC (old Mac) CPU or is it running on a normal system with an Intel / AMD CPU?

Then you don't want swfdec, you can use the full Adobe plugin. swfdec is nice as its open but it doesnt support most of the stuff the proprietary plugin can provide.

I suggest you run this command:

sudo apt-get --purge remove swfdec*; sudo apt-get --purge autoremove; sudo apt-get clean; sudo apt-get install flashplugin-installer

You can omit sudo apt-get clean if you like, just means that the system will download a fresh copy of whatever is installed. If you need the old debs of installed software on your system you can use:

sudo apt-get --purge remove swfdec*; sudo apt-get --purge autoremove; sudo apt-get install flashplugin-installer

and they will be left.

Your choice.

tim.603 the commands actionparsnip gave you should be run in the terminal, which can be found in either Applications->Accessories->Terminal or by pressing alt-F2 and typing gnome-terminal.

And again the commands actionparsnip gave you are...
sudo apt-get --purge remove swfdec*; sudo apt-get --purge autoremove; sudo apt-get clean; sudo apt-get install flashplugin-installer

I am not sure whether I should put this here or not But I am experiencing the same problem.
I have installed Flash (Flashplugin-nonfree 10.0.32.18).

I experience this with Firefox 3.0, 3.5 as well as all the dirivitive browsers like Flock.

If I use seamonkey I can see the table listings. ( I use seamonkey just to play poker.. lol)

Any way I will log a bug report if that is the best thing todo?

thanks
Scott

Same problem here. Just found out about this. New Laptop installed Ubuntu a couple of weeks ago. It was working on Firefox when vista that was on here. Don't think that has anything to do with it, so I'm guessing it's the custom ubuntu ff that is the problem. Other games I play work like mafia wars, vampires,... Anyway it worked a few weeks ago till Ubuntu and FF version.

Install ies4linux. You might be dealing with a Active X problem. Not supported in Linux.

First do this. http://www.psychocats.net/ubuntu/ies4linux

Then do this. http://www.tatanka.com.br/

Hope it helps

Thanks guys,

Pretty sure it is not a active X issue as it works with semonkey but fails with any FireFox based browsers eg Flock, FF 3.5, Abrowser.. So related to Firefox I would think?

Hi!

I'm with Scott. Same behavior here. FF3.0 with flash player from adobe doesn't list poker tables.

I think that's more realted to flash plugin than to the browser itself. On the browser side it loads everything else, you can even play tornaments, the only thing you can't see are the lists in the flash movie...

I'm starting to think that maybe some kind of function or lib is missing, and the function in the swf can't "draw" this lists... I don't know, just rambling...

Hi Marc,

It might be the Flash Plugin, but I think SeaMonkey uses the same plugin, and it will list all the tables. Anyway, I can play by opening the poker in Seamonkey so no real problem

Sure it's not a big problem, finally today I could play in normal tables ;) but there's something wrong... maybe we will have to wait for 9.10...

I can confirm this bug in Debian Squeeze with Firefox 3.5.2 and Epiphany and Flash 10.0.22.87-0.1.
I think it is a flash issue.

Ok I am sick of this problem. Have to use two sometimes three different browsers to see things the way they are supposed to be seen. Hate to completely uninstal Ubuntu b/c they choose to give us their version of FF. How do I COMPLETELY uninstall Ubuntu FF and install the plain old Mozilla FF. Not install Mozilla on top b/c that doesn't work either. Not to completely uninstall the one on here.

Can you help with this problem?
