firefox-3.0 package

Please can anybody tell me if I have to go through installation of Skype and other things if I upgrde from 8.10 to 9.04? what's been offered wheneve I'm updating something?

I went through troubles of trying to install Skype, had to reinstall the whole system this week and the question about upgrading to 9.04 is tempting but the support seems to be only to 2010 whereas the 8.10 is stating support to 2013 so I don't know.

I am unsure of Skype as I dont use it and think it is evil and proprietary.I'd imagine youwill need to reinstall it as 3rd party repos are disabled during upgrading to reduce issues. But it shouldnt be hard to find a Juanty deb (or whatever) and instal it, your settings will still stand as they are stored in ~

Thank you for the answer but it doesn't solve much I wouldn't mind reinstall one or two things but with those expiration dates what's the point in upgrading?

Then wait until October and install karmic, its is LTS like Hardy. Jaunty has 16 months in it which is a LONG time in computing. Intrepid has 12 months. ALL ubuntu releases eventually expire but come on you can't say12 months is short seriously?

Thank you again this really does solve it. And yes I do think that 12 months of support is a short time, actually a very short time. For those in twenties it may look long but far more people are older and for them it is short indeed.

If you want to put it in perspective, look at the the technology of 12 months ago compared to now. There will be a drastic change
