"unable to locate Internet Explorer" when trying to use IE Tab in Firefox

Asked by jlillywh

I installed the Firefox add-on IE View, but when I go to add a page to view it in IE from inside FF, I get this error:
******
Javascript Application
"unable to locate Internet Explorer"
******

I'm running Ubuntu 9.04 and Firefox 3.0.10 and IE View add-on version 1.4.2

Any ideas what my problem is?

ah. I realized I don't have IE installed at all. Now I have a problem installing IE in Wine. I get ¨Unable to find a volume for file extraction. Please verify that you have proper permissions.¨

So, I guess I better head on over to the wine posts...

Hi

Maybe this helps. If you are going to use the MS Internet Explorer, first install wine (Synaptic). And then install the Internet Explorer. But I'm not sure if it works. Because I use Firefox.

Hope it helps.

Thanks! I have wine installed already. I need IE to fill out my time card for work - that is the only reason. I thought there must be a better solution than running ie in a virtual windows. I followed some good tutorials but still no success. I only need to do this once per week, so I guess I'll stick with the virtual machine.
