Im unable to figure out how to install apps on Ubuntu 16.04.3 LTS.

im unable to figure out how to install apps on Ubuntu 16.04.3 LTS.

Im trying to install stem but no matter how many times i click "install" in the install manager it does nothing. any advice would be greatly welcomed.

I am not aware of a package called stem, so I assume you are talking about steam.

For diagnostic purposes please try the following:
Open a terminal window (e.g. by simultaneously pressing ctrl-alt-t) and issue the following commands:

uname -a
lsb_release -crid
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install steam

When the last command has finished use the terminal window's menu entries "edit - select all" and "edit - copy" and paste all output into this question document that we can check.
