certificate installation for https website

Asked by ydchou

I am trying to connect to a website https:\\mail.nic.in (Firefox 3.0.6) and have added its certificate in the exception list. I can see the certificate in certificate manager under servers. However the login window keeps appearing again and again in-spite of providing correct user and id. Please help.

Are you sure that the password and user name are correct?

Yes! I am able to access my mail account from the same service provider using IE7 on WinXPProf with SP3.

This has happened after I upgraded to Firefox 3.0.x It was working with earlier version 2.x of firefox.
Even Google chrome is not accepting the connection to this site. Is there any way I can resolve this issue with the Firefox guys

Please try to delete and reimport the certificate adding an exclusion using the Firefox menu:

Edit → Preferences → Advanced → Encryption: Certificates "View Certificates" button [Servers]

Hope this helps

Please also try to clean firefox mozilla profile

Close all opened Firefox and try to delete your Firefox user setting open a terminal from applications → Accessories → Terminal and type:
mv .mozilla .mozilla_old
and restart Firefox.

If you have a lot of bookmarks please export them before move your setting directory, then import them again from saved file into Firefox.
Also take note of your installed Firefox extensions, to reinstall them.

if this works then delete the .mozilla_old directory, from terminal, type:
rm -fr .mozilla_old

Hope this helps

Sorry friends tried all above but no change.

Today I upgraded to firefox 3.0.11. When I tried to connect to the website I got the expected page load error message " Secure Connection failed. mail.nic.in uses an invalid security certificate. The certificate is not trusted because the issuer certificate isunknown" After this when i try to add exception ie provide website location and click on get cerificate i get message " Valid Certificate: This site provides valid, verified identification. Ther is no need to add an exception" and i cannot add an exception.

Something crazy going on. Can someone help please! I don't want to use XP and IE!

Can you help with this problem?
