Firefox can't open google.com but every other page!

I have a Ubuntu Hardy firefox 3.0.6.
Firefox can't open www.google.com, but it can open pretty much every other page there exits. Now, with my other computer(Windows) I can open Google's pages, so I don't think the problem is there. What could I do?
By the way this happens when I use wired connection but curiously it doesn't happen with wireless connection...

Can please provide the error it gives (request timed out, rejected, etc)?

Also, any information on your network could be useful:

How does your Windows computer connect? Is it the same as Ubuntu (wired, which wire, wireless)? Are there any routers involved?

Are you using Google Gears? Then it puts stuff like google.com and mail.google.com in offline cache. Maybe something is wrong with that? Just a wild guess though.
