Did you check your settings in "Edit" > "Preferences" > "Privacy" ?

Just the "Edit" that's written in your main menu bar. "File" "Edit" "View" "History"....
The top line right under your title bar.

Hi Bernhard

I don't have this. In the task bar I've Applications, Places and System. And nowhere is an entry called Edit. Thanks.

No I mean the Firefox menu bar not the Gnome menu in the panel. Cannot believe that you don't have it, maybe there is a way to toggle it on/off, not sure.

Anyway, try hitting ALT+O (that's an "o" not a zero) to get to "Preferences", then go to "Privacy" and change your settings there, you configure how Firefox is supposed to remember sites you've visited.

Hi Bernhard

Thanks for the help. I didn't realize that you mean Firefox. The following ticks are active:

- Keep my history for at least 90 days
- Remeber what I enter in forms and the search bar
- Remember what I've downloaded
- Accept cookies from site

The following ticks are not active:
- Always clear my private data when I close Firefox
- Ask me before cleaning data

Thanks a lot.
Peter

Regarding Private data no box is active.

Then I think you have the normal settings. Could you please describe more exactly what the problem is? Is it that visited pages are not stored or ones you type in (and do not visit)?

And what do you mean by bar of visited pages? Screenshot would be great...

Hi Bernhard

I guess visited pages are stored. I checked it and it works.

But I've five sites in the visited pages they never will vanish. And these five pages have a yellow star on the end of the text. I guess these stars are the sign of the problem.

And regarding the sreenshot: How can I attach an attachment? And I think it's not possible to open the visited pages and to take a screenshot. I tried it by Applications > Accessories > Take Screenshot but it didn't work.

Thanks for your answer.

I think what you mean by "visited pages" is the drop-down menu that you get when you press the small arrow right of the address bar, is that right?

This list is most probably not exactly what you think it is. It does give you some of the pages that you already visited, but also it gives you the bookmarks, and other things it might think are interesting to you.
This is also the meaning of the yellow stars: the yellow stars shows, which pages you have bookmarked. And as bookmarks don't expire, these pages won't disappear.

If you want a list of the pages that you visited, and only of those, use the "History" function. To access that, you can either use the "History" item in the menu of firefox, or simply press "Ctrl-H", which will open up a history sidebar. This will list which pages you have visited.

If you want to explicitly store some of the pages that you have visited, use the "Bookmarks" feature. To do that, you can again either use the menu "Bookmarks", or press "Ctrl-B" to open up a sidebar.

I don't think you can actually make an attachment here in the question/answer system, only for real bug reports.

Ho Olaf

Thanks for your message. It helped.

Yep, I tmean by "visited pages" the drop-down menu that I can get when I press the small arrow right of the address bar.

I didn't know, that also bookmarks get stored in this drop-down menu. And the meaning of booksmark is clear.

Thanks a lot. My problem has solved.
