If the web-browser you're using is FireFox then open it and go to the Edit menu at a the top. Choose Preferences from the end, now a pop-up box appears - well worth changing quite a few things in here but we have a mission. Click on the "Privacy" tab/button at the top of the pop-up box and then tick the box at the bottom that says "Always clear my private data when i close FireFox" and then click the button beside that to change some of those settings.

Now everytime you close Firefox it'll forget everything you told it to forget. There is another tweak to do with the addressbar but that's another story.

Good luck

Errr, someone was just saying that they had installed "Sweeper", have you used the search tool in "Add/Remove Programs" at the bottom of the Applications menu on the top taskbar.

Good luck still

Using Firefox open the menu edit→Preferences→Privacy [tab]

Check the checkbox "Always clear my private data when i close firefox" and customize your desired settings by clicking on letf "Setting" button.

You can also clear your Firefox without closing and restarting it. simply press Ctrl+Shift+Canc keyboard keys

Hope this helps

Ok, in a terminal window i found i needed to type
sudo apt-get clean
to clear the cache of installed programs, that gave me a bit more space.
