web pages take a long time to load

Asked by Gary Musker

Upgraded to 8.10 from 8.04 the latter giving no problem at all.

Many of the sites take an absolute age to load whilst others appear to load with no problem. Ebay is the worst site where each time you click a new page you have to wait for it to load. mostly it says 'transfering date from..... etc' other times the loading bar in the bottom does nopt complete its full travel whilst in the bottom left hand corner it says 'Done'.As an instance this web page and site has given me no problems at all.

I can not see videos on you tube, and on ebay i cant see some of the boxes which I assume carry adverts they appear as blank boxes.

If I go on MP3PANDA I have no problem at all yet there are many images on the site.

I am a amatuer where linux is concernec and if you can solve the problem could you please convey the solution in a very simplistic manner.

Look forward to a happy conclusion.

Kind Regards

Gary Musker

Do you have gnash or non-free flash plugins installed?

Hi Charles

I think that I solved the problem yesterday evening, I have installed adobe flash player and fingers crossed this seems to have worked.

I appreciate your quick response, and glad I joined the Ubuntu forum.

Hi Charles

I have replied through the Ubuntu forum however I will reply to your
mail on the off chance that I did not follow the correct procedure.

I solved the problem yesterday evening (24th) by installing the adobe
flash, once installed everything appears to be OK.

I appreciate the quick response, and intend to stick with Ubuntu, glad
that I joined the forum.

Many Regards

This was a question and not a bug. Converted to a question so others with this issue might find it in questions.
