lost home button,back, forward buttons on top of screen

I have lost all the buttons under the File/Edit/view/History/ etc so I do not have the back,forward,home or any of the other buttons now. Also sometimes when I try to start up my computer it does not always want to load the Ubuntu until I restart it once or twice. What can I do to help this out and restore me back to a useable computer?

Looks like the navigation bar is disabled

right-click on an emptu-y part of the menu bar and then make sur the checkbox next to "Navigation Toolbar" is checked
