Hi,

Have you tried to update firefox using the update manager ?.

You don't need to download anything from mozilla.org. Simply use the package manager in your computer. I guess you are running default ubuntu applications so click on "system", then "update manager". It will ask your password and follow the instructions to update your system. I should be enough since firefox 3.05 is on the ubuntu servers

Hi

Don't worry about viruses. Most people use MS Windows and viruses are mostly made against windows. There are no lots of viruses on linux. Simply make sure not to use software you don't trust 100% and it will be safe.

When using linux you are a normal user which as no rights to install any software or run anything that can damage the system (that's why it asks your password sometimes). All a virus could do is to delete or corrupt your personnal datas, so if you really want to be safe simply make backups of your datas on usb stick or cds...
