Maximum/minimum buttons

Hi
Firefox starts with no minimum maximum buttons in the upper right corner.
I press F11 two times to get these button back but suddenly they are gone again.
How do I get back this buttons?
I use Firefox and Ubuntu 8.10

Hi,
test case, change the theme, switch back.
If compiz is running, check out in settings manager if in tools workarounds are activated.
