Asked by haydenlinuxcode

OK everytime I decide to upgrade Firefox to ver. 3 from the standard one that came on the linux bootable Cd, it lets me download the file from the site perfectly fine, I can open it with file archiver and extract it and all that, but i dont understand how to run it. I have previously installed plug-ins such as flash player just fine, but i am having problems installing Firefox ver. 3, do i have to open terminal and run some coding language to do it.

How am I supposed to it install it, please help me, thank you

Please tell which release of Ubuntu are you using...

I suggest you to perform standard update and upgrade of your system to get latest Firefox (supported by Ubuntu) release.

To be sure your system is fully update (with no pending packages) using terminal so please:

Open a Terminal from the menu Applications → Accessories → Terminal and type:
(when the system ask you a password give your user password, you will not see nothing when you type it, then press enter)

sudo dpkg --configure -a
sudo apt-get -f install
sudo apt-get --fix-missing install
sudo apt-get clean
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade
sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
sudo apt-get clean
sudo apt-get autoremove

Hope this helps
