Certain java required websites are not viewable

Asked by sajidwasif

After upgrading, I can't view some java required websites. Like I can't view videos from hulu.com or cbs.com. youtube works fine. This problem was solved in 8.04 when I installed some plugins. 8.10 is now so smooth. How do i solve id? Is there some kind of "reset" option for the java programs?

Please try to install Java

- Please first enable the multiverse repository:

Open System → Administration → Software sources → [ Tab Ubuntu software ]
enable "Software restrictecd by copyright or legal issue ( multiverse )"
Close and confirm the repository reload.

- Then open a Terminal from the menu Applications → Accessories → Terminal and type:

sudo aptitude update
sudo aptitude upgrade
sudo aptitude install sun-java6-jre sun-java6-bin sun-java6-plugin
plase confirm pressing "tab" key and pressing enter the java licence agreement

give your user password when requested, you don't see nothing when you type it, then press enter.
