Closing tabs like in konqueror

Asked by Joan Tur

Binary package hint: firefox-3.0

Hi.

I've been working with konqueror for long, and now I've moved to Gnome & Firefox; I find the way Konqueror has to close tabs easier to work with: only one "cross" on the right hand side of the tabs bar, used to close the active tab -instead of having a "cross" on any tab, wasting space-.

Could that behaviour be implemented in Firefox?

TIA ;)

Note: I'm working with Ubuntu 8.10rc (out in 5 days), Firefox 3.0.3+nobinonly-0ubuntu2, 64bits

Hi,
This is really a support question, how to change Firefox configuration, not a bug, so I'm converting your entry to Launchpad question.

To change default behavior you will need to use about:config preferences page.
Just type about:config in address bar, then put "browser.tabs.closeButtons" in search bar. Right click on that entry (there should be only one visible, as we narrowed our choice by search) and select "Modify" from context menu. Change the value to 3, and it should modify the tabs, and put one "cross" at the far left end of tabs row.
