firefox crashed with SIGSEGV

Asked by schklerg

Firefox is the reporting application, but X itself restarted when the app crashed. I've had this happen several times, with very little open in Intrepid. Firefox has been open each time. I'd be happy to supply any info you could ask for. I can't do anything specific to trigger it, but it has happened 8 times since my install on my HP 6730b laptop

This has happened to me several times since, even without firefox running. I do not get prompted to submit a bug report so I'm not sure what files would be needed for analysis. I do use Evolution regularly and this does seem to be a bit of a theme with the issue, but I am giong to test further to see if I avoid the issue with Evolution closed. I am using the Kubuntu variant as well.

I've been able to stop the X crashes by turning off the KDE desktop effects. My video card is a Intel 4500MHD video card. Is this simply a driver issue or a bug?

I've confirmed it has nothing to do with firefox. firefox was just killed by the KDE desktop effects crashing X on me. It is definitely an issue with the KDE effects. Should I open a case elsewhere?
