no sound with firefox anymore

Asked by R.Kasahara

Recently all audio no longer works when I use Firefox. This not a problem when I use my other Mozilla browser. Does anyone know how I could get the audio back? There is nothing in the perferences that turn off sound and I do not believe it is anything I have installed into Firefox as the only plugin I have installed was Download Helper, and I had sound for a while after installing that.

Could you give an example of the websites you are visiting that lack sound please?

For instance are you viewing flash content, realplayer etc?

Cheers

The websites I am noticing the problem are the ones with Flash Content like Youtube and Daily Motion. I don't really go to websites that have sounds that aren't flash content, so I don't know if this problem is bigger than just that. If you know a good non-flash site I could test, I would be more than happy to see if I can hear something there.

Thank you in advance

Depending on your sound setup, you might not be able to play sound from more than one source simultaneously. Do you have any other applications which might be using sound open at the same time as Firefox?

That seems to be the exact problem. I made sure everything else was turned off and checked to see if Firefox would play audio and then it did, as long as nothing else was playing as well.

Thank you for all your help. Now I can rest easy.
