In order to play video streaming in firefox, you have several plugins, depending on the video player you use. As far as I know, you can try with the following packages( only one at a time).

- totem-mozilla (For Totem)
- mozilla-mplayer (For mplayer)
- mozilla-plugin-vlc (For VLC)

Not sure if any of them solves your problem completely, but I know I have seen some video streaming with all of them.

Greetings, Felipe.

I am using totem-mozilla available from the repositories to play without any problems.

Open a Terminal from the menu Applications->Accessories->Terminal and type:

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade
sudo apt-get dist-upgrade

sudo apt-get install totem totem-mozilla

give your user password when requested, you don't see nothing when you type it, then press enter.

Close and restart Firefox then retry... to open:
http://www.amazingfacts.org/Home/tabid/37/ctl/PlayMedia/mid/509/MDID/2930/PID/1560/SID/8/t/The-Tree-of-Life/Default.aspx

hope this helps
