desktop setting

i have installed the advance desktop effects what is the best setting for my dell inspiron b130. the reason why im asking this i know that it might slower down my laptop.

You can disabled some of the plugins, but to be honest, if you are concerned about speed on an older computer, the best solution is to disable desktop effects. The cube and cube rotate can take up a fair amount of resources, as well as wobbly windows, 3d windows, and minimizing/maximizing effects. Using other addons like fire can slow you down, too. If you fiddle around enough, you will begin to see which effects specifically slow down your computer.
It's really a tradeoff between speed and flashy-ness.
