Firefox 3.0 freezes Ubuntu 8.04 at random when visiting sites.

When visiting sites Firefox 3.0 totally freezes my Ubuntu 8.04 system. I have disabled some of my addons that I have installed recently, but that seems to not have worked. I need help as this is driving my crazy!

Can you reproduce freeze with using another software ?

Because getting a system freeze while using firefox seems strange. Could be a video driver problem ?

Just guessing, of course.

Download FX3 directly from the Mozilla site and test it.

Delete your profile, or at least rename it, and see if something in there was causing the problem

# cd ~/.mozilla
# mv firefox firefox.deleted

If that fixes it you can re-install any extensions one at a time, testing as you go.
Clear up finally by deleting the profile.
# rm -r ~/.mozilla/firefox.deleted

I have the exact same problem, Firefox 3.0.3 completely freezes Ubuntu 8.04, I had this problem on g-mail and laut.fm only so far. How can it be that an application stops ubuntu from working??

Firefox 3.04. Locks computer and only appears in full screen, covers up panel.

My system is Toshiba Laptop, 1 GB Memory, 160 GB Hard disk, Kubuntu 8.04, This is the only application that locks the computer or is full screen. Firefox 2 has none of these problems.

I deleted ~/mozilla, un-installed and purged firefox-3, re-installed firefox-3 - problem not solved.
