Please read: https://answers.edge.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/firefox-3.0/+question/31237
and https://answers.edge.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+faq/96

The best palce to check if an addon is ready for Firefox-3.0 is to serach it on the master addon site: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox

Hope this helps

I spotted this on an ubuntu forum yesterday, tried it and it works on my dialup.

Open the terminal (Apllication-->accesories--->terminal) and type "sudo gedit /etc/dbus-1/system.d/NetworkManager.conf".
Then you replace the
<allow send_interface="org.freedesktop.NetworkManager"/> with
<deny send_interface="org.freedesktop.NetworkManager"/> (there are three it the text). Then save the changes and reboot. This will not permit firefox (or pidgin) to communicate with network manager and the state will be always online in firefox...

To get firefox to stop starting in the offline mode:

1.Start firefox
2.Type “about:config” in the address bar (without the quotes)
3.acknowledge that you promise to be careful
4.Type “toolkit” in the filter bar that comes up
5.Look for the line that says “toolkit.networkmanager.disable”
6.Double click on this line to toggle it to “TRUE”
7.Exit firefox
8.On the next restart the “work Offline” box should be unchecked.
