Bad image quality with firefox 3.0 on ubuntu.com

Asked by Jinx

Hello,
Im using Ubuntu 8.04 with compiz on an Intel 965GM graphic card. When I go to www.ubuntu.com, the site is all crappy and the images are somehow like in a bad resolution. Im using the screen at 1440x900, but if i try opera 9.5 the web page is perfectly fine, I mean the images on the site.

Here are 2 screen shot, one from firefox on ubuntu.com and one from opera 9.5 on ubuntu.com:

Firefox 3.0 : http://users.visualserver.org/robert/firefox-screenshot.png
Opera 9.5: http://users.visualserver.org/robert/opera-screenshot.png

If someone knows what is the deal with this, please let me know.

Hello

I too had the same problem

For me workaround was:

View > Zoom > Zoom text only

http://support.mozilla.com/tiki-view_forum_thread.php?locale=en-US&forumId=1&comments_parentId=29934

Additionally I installed the no squint plugin

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/2592

so I changed it like this:

View > Zoom > Zoom Settings (No Squint) > Primary Zoom Method > Text Zoom (text only)

Regards

Bhavani Shankar.

This was driving me bonkers, setting "Zoom Text Only" was the fix also for me.

Thanks Bhavani
