send/receive not in bold and email not working

after downloading my updates this morning I received an e-mail and all was normal...then a short time later the bold on my send/receive went off and i can't send or receive e-mails now(not sure if the updates are just a coincidence or not)....only the send /receive is off on the top bar...if I send an e-mail to myself it goes to the outbox and won't go through....

never had a problem with my e-mail before...

will it mush be a glitch or you e-mail web site you go on is having something bad right now sorry I can't help more

How was this solved. I am having the same problem more or less.
I send with verizon and it seems to execute, but I found a selection Evolution mail and when i clicked one it it should all of my messages in OUTBOX and zero in the sent selection.

very similar circumstances happening with my send & receive since upgrading to ubuntu8.04 lts
