Remove the package and set the output software in System -> Settings -> Audio to Alsa.

I too have issues with no sound whilst watching video on youtube.
I'm running Hardy Heron and sound works well when watching videos I have downloaded.
What exactly is this "libflashsupport" and how does one utilise it?
I have it installed.

libflashsupport is a little library that makes pulse audio (the new audio system for hardy) work together with the flash player. you just have to install it by
sudo apt-get install libflashsupport
and it gets activate automatically. if things do still not work then, please open a new support request (to help us keep track) and maybe reference this question, there to avoid re-asking questons.

The package libflashsupport is no longer available. It has been replaced by flashplugin-nonfree-extrasound. Use sudo apt-get install flashplugin-nonfree-extrasound to install it.

By the by I had the same issue, no audio in Youtube. Installing the above plugin and restarting firefox solved the issue.

sudo apt-get install flashplugin-nonfree-extrasound

Did that and still no sound. Do I need to go to system>preference> sound and change the preference from Puls audio to something else?

Addition to my previous query- now I seem to have lost sound on everything. Still get the sound alert for new email.
