RealPlayer Gold fails to download and install

I have difficulty getting RealPlayer to download and then install. I did this once before with Feisty Fawn but have since forgotten the procedure after using Windows predominantly. Thanx for any assistance you can provide me with.

First change the permissions of the bin file to make it installable:-
sudo chmod 777 name-of-file.bin

Then run the installer with:-
./name-of-installer.bin

That should be enough.

I have downloaded Real player 11. I don't know DOs operation. Please advise me how to open it & install it (where to install it) in ubuntu.
