Recognizes wireless connection but can't go to web sites

Asked by blairw10

I have Ubuntu 8.04 (gutsy). I just got the wireless connection to "work." The thing is, it recognizes the connection and says it's even connected but I can't go to any web site or use Pidgin. I just want to know how to fix this problem because I really need the wireless network to work. Thanks.

I am running Heron with PRO/Wireless LAN 2100 3B Mini PCI Adapter, as wireless does not work.
Does anybody know how to fix this problem?

Can you help with this problem?
