Firefox was unique...

Asked by Sir Rodness

You guys aren't going Microsoft IE on us are you? The best thing about Firefox was all the cool addons that you were able to use and/or create. This made firefox hands down the best browser out there. Why would you make an core update that would render so many of them unusable? Has your plugin technology been compromised?

Well, I bet that *many* plugins will be ported to Firefox 3.0 once it goes final (it is scheduled for June). And as for the core update, it's better to have Firefox 3.0 for a month or two with no plugins than being stuck with FF 2.0 for the whole LTS release :)

Just wait till 3.0 is offically released and things will get better ;)

Oh, and of course, you still can install Firefox 2.0 in hardy, just search for it in synaptic. All your plugins will work perfectly then.

That works for me. Hard to go back to the old Firefox thought. The updates in 3 have been pretty nice so far. This was just the first one that broke so many plugins at once. Had me worried, but you're right I'll wait till it goes official and see where it stands then. Thanks. :)
