Asked by SammiJo

Has the bug of the scaled images just going black been sorted? I'm wondering if it's my graphics or not!

According to the comments on that bug, a fix is known, but it hasn't been released yet. The underlying issue appears to be tagged for X.org 7.4, which isn't going to be in Hardy, but a workaround--not using the broken functionality that X provides--should be forthcoming. The relevant package is xulrunner-1.9 rather than firefox-3.0; once you can go to https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xulrunner-1.9/+bug/182038 and see the status of the highlighted bug set to "Fix Released" rather than "Fix Committed", you should be able to just update your system and have the issue fixed.

Please ignore the following unless you want to spend some time building your own packages to get the fix more quickly. If you want the fix earlier, you'll have to build from the current bzr branch or something similar. (The relevant diff is http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~<email address hidden>?<email address hidden> , if you're interested in doing it by hand.)

Releases of xulrunner-1.9 have happened about once per month for the last few months; I don't see why there won't be another before Hardy final is released. The fix is in the current source repository; it will be in the next release.
