Retrieving downloads

If you have a start up disc for a printer but lose it, can you retrieve the information and write it to a disc to be used on another computer?

Startup disk for a printer? Do you mean a driver CD?

For which printer? Often the drivers are available in Ubuntu or extra sources. Sometimes they simply are not available and the printer will not work (Kodak is a good example here)
