Firefox 3.0.19 on Ubuntu 8.04: upgrade to Firefox 3.6.3

Hello

I've Firefox 3.0.19 and I'll upgrade it to the newest release 3.6.3. I tried but it failed: I downloaded 3.6.3 and extractet it. But if I call it, I'll always get the version 3.0.19.

What do I have to do to install the newest version? Thanks a lot.
