Video does not play in Firefox

Asked by Iqbal

Hi,
I have Firefox 3.5.9, Ubuntu 9.10 and a 64 bit architecture laptop.
Firefox does not play video. Earlier it used to play, but now it does not.

I tried to download flashplayer. But package installer says it is of wrong architecture. But at Adobe site there is no separate flash player for 64bit.

Java is installed correctly, as verified from Java website. Java and JavaScript is also enabled in Firefox.
Under Tools-Add-ons options in Firefox, following plug-ins are available and enabled:

DivX Web Player
Java Plug-in 1.6.0_20
QuickTime Plug-in 7.2.0
VLC Multimedia Plugin (compatible Totem 2.28.2)
Windows Media Player Plug-in 10 (Compatible; Totem)

Any solutions please.

You can download flashplayer for 64bit here:
http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/flashplayer10_64bit.html

Extract the file and put the libflashplayer.so to ~/.mozilla/plugins

In case it doesn't work, don't forget to remove all previously used flash apps in order to avoid conflicts and Firefox recognizes the right one. While installing flash Firefox should also be closed.

Hi,
Thank you to both of you,
First I removed all flash installations. Then I downloaded 64 bit flashplayer from the site, as told by Jens Maucher.
Now videos are running fine in Firefox.
