Screen freeze up in ubuntu 9.10 on hp amd 64

I installed Ubuntu 9.10 on a computer with a blank 500 G drive. I fired it up only to have it freeze within 5 to 20 seconds after a full boot. I went back and chanded the mouse in the BIOS settings.

I tried it again and thought I had it fixed, no luck. Froze in less than a minute.

I('ve had 9.10 working on other computers.

My question is it the program or the computer?

Need some help here!

Try Ubuntu 10.04. That might fix your problem or go to System> Administration> Hardware Drivers and install an y required drivers. Hope that helps.

Also, install any updates in Update Manager.
