Can you plug in your camera, turn it on if necessary, open a terminal (click on Applications > Accessories > Terminal) and type lsusb (LSUSB in lowercase) and copy the output to this post. That will tell us if your computer has recognized the camera when it is plugged in and turned on. Also does any window with reference to F-spot pop up when you plug in the camera?

Can you try what I suggested earlier by plugging in the camera, make sure that it is on, then on the computer open a terminal and type lsusb to see if the Ubuntu computer recognizes the camera when it is plugged in. Copy and paste the output of that command here. Also copy from the terminal the output of lsb_release -a.

If your camera works with windows, it probably won't recognize Linux. Buy a Dynex card reader at Best Buy. Your computer will recognize it as a USB device and it will work with F-Spot, etc.

Ps: I find it handy to have a fresh memory card in the camera, while I edit the pics on the other card..and the cards are good backup.

Can you help with this problem?
