New Skin for amsn

Asked by Steven

Hallo,
i have down loaded a new skin for amsn and i now need to copy it into /usr/share/amsn/skins

The problem is i cant drag and drop it, i get the message i dont have the permissions to do this

This is my laptop and i am the only user on it, apart from this system root, which seems to be stopping me from doing about everything,

PLEASE Help me, before i go crazy

THANKS IN ADVANCE

When you fire up amsn for the first time it creates a directory for skins/plugins in /home/USERNAME/.amsn

You should be able to copy your skins to there safely.

The error you are recieving is normal. It means that your user does not have permission to write to that directory. You would normally need to temporaily copy over the file as a root user to do this. But this is considered dangerous.

My appologies, I should have explained better.

It will be in /home/steven/.amsn

!DOTamsn!

dot files and folders are usually hidden from you. You will need to enable hidden files in order to see them, click "view" then "show hidden files" or hit CTRL+H in your home directory to view them.

Once you are in there, there is a folder called "skins".
