Unlike other operating systems where you have to surf and download questionable software, most programs in Linux are installed using the package manager - synaptic (system-admin) for Ubuntu. If you downloaded something it is probably source code and needs to be compiled. Sometimes you will will find prepackaged binaries (called a .deb for ubuntu) and those can just be double click installed. If you have a link, we can let you know more about what you are trying to install.

I have just installed Ubuntu but can't get DVD player to run. Tells me I need libdvdcss but don't know how to get it into an archive.

I paid for incredimail on 10/20/09. At that time I didn't have the system I now have.
I can't get incredimail to down load at all. Can you explain in detail how I can accomplish this.
FYI, I am not the least bit techincal. Period.

Alright, Ubuntu uses the file format of .deb, so you should go to the
Adobe website, then select .deb for Ubuntu 8.04 + and then download it.
Once done downloading click on the file and you will be presented with a
window that asks you to install it, click on install and you are done :)
