Download and then Extract to specific file

Asked by Matthew Rees

This is not complex! I have Joomla that needs to be extracted to my hard drive, apparently! How do i do that? my options are 'Extract Here'.....Wrong.... or learning something.....where is this information hidden in this private club?

I've adopted Ubuntu as a cheap and swift way of earning some money, it's cheap but only in the sense that you don't part with money....somebody is earning some money hereabouts because the whole process takes for ever.

I started with Ubuntu and got my disc for free! I investigated applications that could take a product to market....Joomla....i need a application that i can use locally, so i can develop it.....Xampp....many problems, lots of time and searching.....and now i need to understand semantics and nuances of different terminolgy to get to the next leap to be so close.....and yet so far.....

Just somehow could i learn or somebody tell me how to get to this next stage....i've got Lampp, i've got Joomla 2.5 downloaded how do i get to build my web-site....one sort jump for you Zealots....i just want to write a newspaper online....

"Include as much detail as possible: what you’re trying to achieve, what steps you take, what happens, and what you think should happen instead." It says this below, but the way this game is run, i'm not sure that's what you all feel....it feels like a private club full of people who cannot communicate clearly with the outside world or in an "intuitive" fashion ( your term ) even within your own world....Angry Amateur....any help respectfully received but my outburst will be calmed by another couple of days Fxcxing about with rubbish information...

If you can give the name and location of the file you want to extract I can give the command (case very sensitive)

Hi Actionparsnip...

It's :
/home/matthew/Downloads/Joomla_2.5.4-Stable-Full_Package.zip

I have Lampp installed and protected through Mysql Phpmyadmin and Apache with passwords.

There's some configuration to do to get the file into Lampp...?

I'll have to look elsewhere as i have attempted to use this information recommended from the Ubuntu Community relating to Joomla.

In my circumstances, this response is neither helpful or an answer, there is no need to respond any further.

Thank you for your reply, i refer all viewers of this final response to my first comment or question asking for assistance.
